THE PRINCE’S DEPARTURE.

ENTHUSIASTIC SCENES,

LONDON, March 16

There was a tremendous outburst of enthusiasm at the Prince’s departure. Denso crowds cheered their Royalties en route. The crush at Victoria Station was so great that it overwhelmed the police. After the Prince passed the people surged around the carriage way and along the platform and were only checked when 20 yards from the Prince s railway carriage by a body of Australian soldiers joining hands with the police. The Prince watched the scene with amusement and interest. Then he stepped into the open, and this proved the signal for an enormous outburst of c- eering, which lasted several minutes. The drinco meanwhile regally saluted the demonstration, which was renewed as the train departed. RECEPTION AT PORTSMOUTH. NAVAL DEMONSTRATION. LONDON, March 17

The Prince of Wales has sail t.l tor New Zealand. Crowds greeted the train en route to Portsmouth where the Prince was tendered a civic eception. There was a great naval demonstration the ‘Victory” and all the warships in port being gaily dressed. Salutes were fired and cruiseres escorted the “Renown” out into the Channel.
