Callaway v. “Sailor” O’-Den, only went five rounds, when O’Dea, in attempting to hit Callaway, w hile the latter was adopting one of his characteristic smothers, injured his wrists and w-as compelled to throw up the fight. But for. this mishap, spectators were of the. opinion that they would have seen a really good go. For the five, rounds, things wore willing, but O’Dea was evidently puzzled by Callaway’s smother. The Boyd v. Dunn amateur bout went the full distance, Boyd being declared the winner oil points. “A draw” would have better indicated the merits of the two lads, j The Rimtapu and Mautmui Axeman’s Carnival takes place at- Lake Aliihinapi'iu on Saturday, April 3rd. In addition to the published programme, another event has been added, an 18-incli handicap, fiddle event, for which the first prize is a racing saw, donated by Air J. Scliroeder of Mananui, and the second prize a trophy. Nominations for all events close with the Secretary, Mr E. Baker, Runtapu on Friday next, March I.9th. There is every prospect of very satisfactory entries being received ensuring a capital day’s sport, which is to he held on the very best ground ill the district for an outing.
