COMMERCIAL NEWS.

ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A BIG YARDING. (By Telagraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as fob lows regarding their stuck sale yesterday : Fat sheep.—Another large yarding, but the quality was indifferent and the market slightly easier all round. Some freezing buyers were not operating so keenly. Best wethers 46s 6d; prime, 35s to 425; lighter 29s to 34sj_ ewes were in the same proportion. A smaller yarding of lambs, but they also were easier in sympathy with the sheep market.

Store sheep.—The largest yarding on record, comprising principally travelled and shipped ewes. The market opened firm at low rates and held well till towards the end. Best 2 and 4 tooth ewes to 375, medium 'from 26s to 30s; s.m. ewes 35s to 295; others 17s to 23s 6; wethers to 30s 6d; others 23s to 26s 6d. Not many good lambs were yarded, but best sorts sold to 24s 3d, others 14s to 19s 3d. To-day’s sale did not reflect the sensational prices realized at Amberley which were recorded mainly for specialty lines of North Canterbury standard half bred sheep. Fat Cattle. —A very heavy yarding comprising a number of good quality, but owing to freezing buyers restricted competition the market was easier than last week. Prime steers to £23, good £l9 to £2l; lighter and unfinished £ls 10s to £lB. Best cows and heifers to £l6 12s 6d; others £lO 15s to £l3 10s. One extra good line of steers made to £27 2s 6d.

Store Cattle A medium yarding but not many outstanding lines. Best 3 and 4-year old bullocks to £l4 15s, 2year steers £7 5s to £8 10s ■ store cows £6 10s to £9. Owing to restricted com. petition of freezing buyers bulls and potters were decidedly easier. Yearlings and calves were in no demand.
