DUTCH FLYING OFFER. LONDON, March 4
The Dutch Government is offering a large money prize to Dutch airmen for a flight from Holland to Dutch Ea,st Indies. Three competitors are expected to make an early start.
FAST FLYING. TURIN, March 4
Flying from Minapino aerodrome with a passenger, Lieut. Bradpapa attained an average speed of 272 kilometres per hour. The highest speed was 277 kilometres. AEROPLANE WRECKED. CAPETOWN, March 8. The aeroplane “Silver Queen’’ crashed down a mile from Bulawayo, after the start for Pretoria. The •machine was badly wrecked, bue the engines are intact. Van Ryneveld attributed the disaster to the machine being overloaded with petrol. The Government is considering the question of providing another aeroplane to enable the aviators to complete the journey.
Van Ryneveld is the Union Government’s entrant, and lias got farthest of any on tile journey.
