The Organiser of the Canterbury Progress League lias yyritten to the Westland Chamber of Commerce as follows:—‘‘lt is the intention of the League to invite the Minister* of Public Works to visit tho Otira Tunnel, making it bis first visit of inspection after taking over the Department from Sir William Fraser. Witli the object of bringing tho West Coast into line with Canterbury and to promote the development of its resources, it is proposed by my Executive that a similar organisation to this League should be established there, and that I be authorised to visit the district for the purpose. I intend writing to the Mayor of Greymouth asking him if he would kindly call a public meeting of citizens and representatives of local governing bodies throughout the district, for the purpose of discussing the question.
