DK,OWNING ACCIDENT. GISBORNE, March 7. A sensational accident occurred on tlie Waikanac Beach at 7 o’clock last ** night as a result of which a married man named Ronald Mclnnes, 51 years of age was drowned. Deceased with another man named Leonard Burns, went fishing in a flat-bottomed boat. I The boat drifted within 100 yards of the beach and capsized in the breakers. Both men started to swim ashore and then turned back and attempted to right the boat. This they failed to do and started again for the shore. A man named Cornelius Wiley was admitted to the Grey town Hospital last night suffering from serious injuries sustained through collision with n goods train while riding a motor cycle. A motor car ran into the motor cycle and side-chair occupied by Mr Albert Falconer, his wife and two children, in Masterton this morning. One of the children was admitted to hospital, se- J vercly injured, while the others suffered a shaking and abrasions.

MAN COMMITS SUICIDE. , MASTERTON, March 7. Robert McKinnon, a married man, aged 37 years, who lias been a station manager in the district for some years, shot himself in llie bead with a revolver at his home at Lansdowne on Saturday afternoon. He died later in the hospital. At the inquest it was shown that ho had been suffering from a nervous break down ,and a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned.
