HASTINGS, March 3. The United Fire Brigades” Conference concluded to-day. It was decided that the amount of subsidy to he asked from insurance companies be altered from £SOO to £IOOO.

Regarding standard uniforms, the Secretary said that the executive had been making exhaustive enquiries, but had found only one firm who were able to talk business. Tlie executive were getting some upto-dnte designs fi;om the United States and they had got some from England, but with the present prices and the scarcity of material, they thought it would be better to defer the matter and allow the executive to report to next Conference, when something definite would he brought down.

Superintendent Crosse (Hamilton) on behalf of his Brigade, invited the Association to hold the next Conference at, Hamilton provided there was no demonstration. He was afraid his Brigade could not provide for a demonstration.
