AUSTRALIAN RACING. MELBOURNE, Feb. 28. The weather was fine and the attendance large at the ALR.C. Meeting. Results:—
Pines Hurdles.—Tharnock (9.0) 1, Coronatuls (9.10) 2, Miss Roslyn (10.9) 3. Eleven started. Won by a short head. Time 3.481. 1 St. Leger.—Artilleryman (8.10) 1, Sinbad the Sailor (8.10) and Whiz Bang (8.10) dead heat, 3. Only starters. Artilleryman led over the last nine furlongs, am! won by six lengths. Time 3,7.
Newmarket Handicap.—Rod Dome I (7.0) 1, Gamblers Gold (7.8) 2, Cetigne I (9.6) 3. Twenty-eight started. The favourite, Chrysolnns and Gold Tie wero together a length in front of Red ( Dome and Candurria at the end of three j furlongs. Red Dome was in the middle of the course and finished best, winning by a half a length, with third a neck away. Gold Tie was fourth and Frais fifth. Time 1.143, Sires Produce Stakes.—Cossino Haten (8.7) 1, Glonacre (8.10) 2, Crimson (8.10) 3. Seven started. AVon by a length. Time 1.29.
