ELECTROCUTED,
I A NESMAN’S DEATH
fpEB PREtB ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 26 An inquest concerning the death of Albert Olsen who was electrocuted while engaged in repairing a telephone wire on the Tinakori Hills on Monday last is being held. The medical evidence was to the effect that the man was electrocuted, death being immediate. Evidence was given that he hauled down a wire by a rope and then caught the wire which had supposedly come in contact with an electric light wire, the cover of which had in parts been worn away. It was stated that gloves were served out to linesmen, Imt it was optional whether they were worn or not. As a matter of fact wires could not be properly handled with gloves. The Coroner returned a verdict-that the deceased died as the result of handling a telephone wire which had come into contact with another wire charged with a high voltage. The work seemed to have been carried out in the usual way. As to the question of possible negligence, he would make no comment.
