IN CONFERENCE.
Representatives of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers ’Association sat in conference in Wellington last week, under the presidency of Mr P. J. Griffin, Chairman of the Wellington Licensed Victuallers’ Association.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr P. J. Griffin; vice-presi- I dents, Messrs J. Sutton, (Christchurch) and P. Brodie (Auckland); general exe- , cutive committee, Messrs W. Devine, (Palmerston North), W. J. Coughlin (Dunedin), S. Gibbons (Marton), J. McDonald (Wellington), B. McCarthy, (Dannevirke), C. Aldridge (Wellington), 11. Dwyer (Wellington), J .Murphy, (Timaru). T. Gormley (Taranaki), J. O’Brien (Southland), J. Hinchy (Bluff), Stapleton (Greymouth), Baigent (Nelson), Limbrick, (Marlborough), Freeman (Manawatu), J. R. Foster (Wanganui)', Quirk (Taihape), Hill (Napier), George Gillies (Gisborne), Fellow (V aipawa), Walsh (Auckland), Brown (Tauranga), Molloy (Auckland), and Griffin (Auckland); secretary and treasurer (pro tern.); bon. solicitor, (Mr J. The official report states that matters of vital interest to the retail trade were fully discussed at the lengthy sessions of the conference. The general tone of the meeting was one of desire to clean up all laxities attendant on the retail trade of the Dominion, for which some vigorous measures were recommended for adoption by the various provincial councils .
