KOKATAHT SUMMER SALE
At the above yards yesterday Messrs Jeffries and Co. held their annual Summer Sale, the yarding being one of the largest in the history of the yards totalling 464 head. Of this lot there was a very large percentage (about 160) of calves and weaners and these there was very little or no demand for. Good strong weaners which two seasons ago were keenly sought for from 40s to £4 wore not thought worth buying yesterday at from 25s to 38s and in consequence the most of them were passed. On the other hand grown cattle were in demand and anything that was forward or nearly fat was quitted without trouble. The lines of forward bullocks of Messrs F. Wall, Stopfortli, Spence Bros and A. 4V. Meharry were keenly sought for, all being yarded in good condition, and there was no lack of competition for same. Buyers were in attendance from north and south. Sheep and lambs sold at ruling rates. The following sales were under the hammer.
