The Labour Council have issued a manifesto condemning the action of the Federal Government in closing down the fupds on the marine engineers, and ip preventing anyone from rendering them ap assistance. The Copncil characterises the action taken as being (me of the greatest attempts ever made t M overthrow Labour unionism in Australia, and the manifesto calls upqn all upionistw to stand behind tlje maripc pngineers in the ip fight for better conditions. The manifesto adds ‘‘Any shirking of the issue will now encourage our foes to strike again and again, until unionism lies vanquished beneath their feet.”
