LATE LOCALS.

The Rinat Sports and Axemen’s Carnival is .set down for Easter Tuesday, April 6th. A number of interesting events are being prepared, and will be published in a few days. The liner Kasama, which arrived in Timaru recently from Montreal, discharged about one hundred Ford cars, a large number of motor bicycles, and a quantity of general merchandise. The album containing the illuminated address ,which was presented to the Very'Rev. Dean Tubman at Timaru last week, was a work of art„of very high order. The album was bound in morocco, the cover being inlaid with green silk, and an artiste design was worked on tho outside. On tile inside of the cover was the inscription: “Presented to the Very Rev. Dean Tubman by the parishioners of Timaru.” The address, which was in Anglo-Saxon script- lettering, was very neatly and skillftily worked and covered five pages, each hearing ail illuminated scroll bordering. The remainder of the album contained photographs of the Sacred Heart Church, the Convent, St. Andrew’s Church, and views of Timaru and South Canterbury. Two pages were left for signatures. The address was the handiwork of Mother Ryan, of the Sacred Heart Convent, whose art work is known throughout- Australasia.
