The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” states that Mr Davis, Assistant-Secretary to the Treasury, outlined a plan to Congress by which the interest on the United States’ loans of 9,500,000,000 dollars to foreign Governments would be deferred for three years, after which the debt won id be refunded into fifteen year bonds, the deferred interest being paid in fif. teen annual instalments. The United States would thus forgo the interest upon the three years’ deferred interest.

Mr Da-vis asked Congress to approve of this plan.

Tlio Premier stated to-day that, the censorship on the news from I iji lias recently been enforced in the Dominion. This lias been now removed. It. appears, however, that a censorship is still being maintained at Fiji, which is now within the jurisdiction of the New Zealand Government.
