GISBORNE, February 13,

The fifteen round profession boxing yonfiost between Tom Heency (Gisborne), and W. Bartlett (Murchison) took place . to-night. Bartlett quitted after the eighth round. Ho declared that ‘‘Heeney was too strong, and be (Bartlett) would have no chance of success.”

The display was not one-sided, but was fairly tame.

UREN V. MEEKIN. DUNEDIN, February 13

A boxing competition between Tommy Uren (Champion of Australia) and Dave Meekin (Champion of the Orient) took place to-niht. The competition was one of fifteen 3-minute rounds, foi a purse of £4OO-£230 to the winner and £l7O to tbo loser. It'Nvas held, under the auspices of the Otago Boxing A'Soseiation. The oontest proved rather disappointing from a spectator’s point of view. In the third round, Meekin went down for nine seconds, to a couple of short arm jolts to the jaw, and ho was obviously dazed. Meekin later went down again for seven or eight seconds. In the ninth round he was down again, first for eight and then for seven seconds. The referee then stopped the fight, and awarded tho decision to Uren.
