DETAILS OF TOUR

[PEII PRESS ASSOCIATION.- COPYRIGHT.]

CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 11

At a meeting of the Prince of Wales Reception Committee here to-night the Mayor said lie had had an interview with Sir F. Bell, who had an audience with the Governor-General that morning, and had minutely discussed the details of' the Prince’s visit to the Dominion. Sir F. Rell informed Dr Thacker that a definite itinerary had. not yet been drawn up. The warship “Renown” will arrive (presumably at Auckland,) on April 17th.

The Prince, it was stated, would spend twenty-eight days altogether in New Zealand.

It was proposed that he should spend three days fishing, probably in the Rotorua District. He will spend four days deer shooting. Wherever possible the Prince will travel by train. Ten or twelve days will be spent in tho South Island. The. Christchurch visit will extend to four days. While in Christchurch tho Prince will be the guest of tho Governor-General at “Elmwod.” His retinue will comprise about forty. Sir F. 'Bell said the Prince would not he entertained privately, except by the Governor-General. The only form of inside entertainment desired was a Leap Year Ball. Tho Government, said Sir F. Bell, will give a- £1 for £1 subsidy on whatever sums are expended generally on thei receptions of the Prince, as well as another subsidy for decorations and illuminations.

Children are to be conveyed free on railways to the cities. Whilo the Prince is in the South Island tho “Renown” will stay all the time in Lyttelton Harbour. A wish has been expressed by the Prince that lie should be given the opportunity to see as many people as possible, especially young folk. Any addresses which it is desired to have presented to the Prince should he forwarded one month prior to his arrival in New Zealand.
