The sheet programme for tbe Westland Racing Club’s Easter meeting is now in circulation. There are five gallops and three trotting events included in the programme, making an attractive one day’s meeting. The stakes show an increase on those offered .last year for a similarly constituted programme. Local horses are now in training for the Coast meetings which supply a good circuit of racing dates over the Easter season.

The Brunner district excursion to Hokitika on Saturday had a perfect day for their outing. The location on Cass Square again wore a busy appearance though the attendance was not nearly as large as that of former years, when the mining district was more flourishing. In tlie afternoon a children’s sports programme was run off, while a' Band, and the merry-go-round enlivened the proceedings. The excursionists returned home at 6.10 p.m. well pleased with their outing.
