LAST OF THE N.Z.F.F.
THE MEN STILL ABROAD
The latest demobilisation figures avail able show that there are about 300 men of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force still abroad. These figures tell the the position as on Jan. 26. Unfortunately the returns furnished are not quite exact, in that two different sets of figures do not agree. In one case tho total is shown to be 305. men and in the other 318. There has been some difficulty about tracing a small number of men in the final clean-up in England, and probably this accounts foi the discrepancy. In any case, the number of men involved is very small. The strength of the force abroad is as'follows: —
On duty in France b In the United Kingdom 287 In hospital in U.K.
Total Included in the number 287 in theabove list are 87 men with wives and families in the United Kingdom. Another list is as follows.— Awaiting repatriation 240; for discharge in United Kingdom 28; on duty in France 6; deserters 31; total 305. , Tho number of men evacuated since the armistice is 46,848. There are 244 men still on the water, coming by tho Athenic.
