LATE LOCALS.

From four applicants for the position of typiste to the Westland Charitable Aid Board, Miss Mabel Andrewos was

appointed. The death took place at Kumara today of Mr Henry Preston, one of the oldest residents of the district who has been following mining pursuits for many years. He has resided at Kumara since the time of the rush and previously was mining at Greenstone. A staunch Forester, lie ivas a leading light of the Forester’s Lodge at Kumara for many years. Deceased was a single man and has no near relatives in the district. •
