Jourdains and M. Jean Ayme. A widow addicted to cards and horses neglects her children, and cannot provide a dowry for her daughter. The sure tip that came off. The .races at Longchamps. Her lover could not face marriage without a dowry, so they parted. Shadows of the
past, and the fatal kiss in the garden. The letter to her husband: “I feel it would be unworthy to betray you. Better far to leave you and follow out my destiny.” How the Balcony of Death saved her husband's honour and
brought retribution to a vile schemer. Beautiful Monte Carlo Scenes. The latest French Fashions. Included in the programme to-night is the 16th chapter of “ The House of Hate,” comedy and latest Gazette. '“THE LAND WB LIVE IN.” FRIDAY.
On Friday next, at the Princess Theatre, Mr M. Siegel will present by arrangement with Tom Pollard, the maminoth cinema triumph of the year, “The Land Wo Live In.” To travel and see the country is a privilege that can bo availed of only by the few. 'Hie majority live their lives with but a faint idea of the scenie beauties of tho country they call their own, an idea taken from a few scanty views published in the illustrated papers. Mr Siegel in his vastly interesting picture, puts it in tho power of the least moneyburdened folk to take a tour of tho Dominion, from the North Cape to tho Bluff, without travelling expenses and in arm-chair ease. To describe the picture in detail' -would mean the compilation of something in the nature of a guide-book. This film opens with the North Island, Auckland and its lovely 1 harbour being shown, after which the | travellers are taken to the northern portion of the district, to Whangarci andi Keirikeri. Tho wonders iof tho
thermal district are realistically picA trip “ way down the Wanganui ” is a wonderful portion of the picture, the lovely scenic beauties of the New Zealand Rhine being set off by the crowded steamers putting a good deal of life into the picture. New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, "Christchurch, Dunedin, and the lovely cold lakes’ district are all visited in turn, the best portion being probably the views of the Otira and Buller Gorges.
