Thoughts For The Times.
The National Blot. ‘ln a rich country like this it is extraordinary the poverty and misery of people. Ail enormous amount is spent on hospitals, charitable aid, reformatories, mental hospitals, old age pensions, yet there' is still much poverty and wretched conditions remaining! The Government should take in hand investigation. Modern society seems to enrich a few lucky people but presses very hard on may other peoplp, who do not appear to be to blame. This is an age of humanity when we must do everything we can for our less fortunate brethren. There are many ways in which life could be made easier apij better for the people.”
