PARORANGI FLOCK

SUCCESSFUL RAM SALE. PALMERSTON, N-, Jan. 20. Mr E. Short, the well-known Romney Marsh breeder, held a special sale of 1000 two-tooth rams at the Palmerston show grounds to-day. The suitability of the new ring jlist erected on the grounds for stock sales bad a very fair test. Rain fell heavily all day, but both the sheep and public were under cover, and suffered no inconvenience from the wet. The sheep came forward in excellent condition, and had the true individuality of the Paroraugi breed, with good, bold heads, plenty of hone and substance, and showing every sign of a robust constitution.

•Although the attendance was not large, it soon became evident that those present were on business bent, and rams went to To Kuiti, Taihape, Wanganui, Gisborne, and Otaki, and as iar south’ as Nelson. The first few hundred were sold singly, and met with a keen demand, which was continued during the greater part of the sale. Afterwards the animals were put up m pens of four. The sale, on the whole, must bo considered one of the most successful in the Dominion, for one vendor, and nearly every animal changed hands. Rams offered singly brought up to 30 to 13J guineas, top pens of four realising up to IS* guineas, mediumfavoured sheep up to seven guineas, and lower grades to four guineas.
