As there is an absence of any Australian crews to take to Australia the destroyers lately presented by Britain, the Admiralty has called for British volunteers to man the destroyers and to later join the Australian Navy. (Received tlijs day at 8.40 a.m.) HALIFAX, (Nova Scotia), Jan 20. The steamer Powhatan which was adrift for some days in the Atlantic, has been rescued. Eight were drowned when a rescue boat from the steamer Northern Pacific capsized.

THE PRINCE OF WADES. LONDON, Jan. 21. It- is now officially stated that any announcement as to a definite date being fixed for the Prince of Wales’ departure for Australasia is aboslutely incorect. The Australian Press Association reports' learning that negotiations with Australia are still proceeding, and ah official announcement of the Prince of Wales’ tour will be withheld until the negotiations are completed.
FRENCH WAR GRAVES. LONDON,. Jah. 20.
Comment is being caused by a Graves Detachment of soldiers ,in France being temporarily suspended, pending an inquiry in connection with their alleged irregular removal of the body of a French aristocrat who was killed in the war, at the request of his relatives, they desiring to inter the remains in a family vault, whereas the French Government has expressly decided that all bodies of soldiers must remain in their original graves.
UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE. | (Received This Day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 19. The Government actually estimates the unemployment insurance will app } to 7,995,000 persons, who will contribute annually £4,217,000 sterling, the employers contributing a like ’ the Exchequer contributing £2,812,000. It is estimated the annual cost will bo £11,373,000.
