LATE LOCALS.

A committee meeting of the Returned Soldiers’ Association will be held in the Overseas Club, this (Thursday) evening, at 7.30 o’clock. A full muster is required.

It is reported that there are at present in circulation a number of spurious two-shilling pieces, which might easily deceive those who do not take particular notice of the coins they carry.—“ N.Z. Times.”

An important provision, and one that met with opposition, especially from the Labour members, is the amendment to the clause in the Coal Alines Amendment Act, 1914, relating to the qualification of miners who may take charge of a face. In the 1914 Amendment Act is is provided that no man shall take charge of a face unless he is 21 years of age and has spent three years ji.pidiergrouiidjl including one year with an experienced miner at the face. It is now provided that this requirement may be suspended by the Afinister if a Supreme Court Judge, acting as a commission, reports that circumstances have arisen and continue to exist which render it necessary in the public interest that such action should he taken.
