ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A HEAVY YARDING. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as fob lows regarding their stock sale yesterday:—

Fat Cattle.—-There was a large yarding, a big proportion being cow and lieifer beef. Best quality steers and heifers sold at late rates. Freezers were buying cow beef keenly. Extra steers sold to £3O 10s, prime £23 to £27; unfinished £l6 to £l9; cows and heifers £ll to £ls and up to £l9 for extra heavy. Store Cattle.—There was a large yarding,, mostly odd lots. The demand was dull especially for young cattle. A number of lines was passed. Forward conditioned cows made £6 10s to £9, store cows ’£4 10s to £6; 2-yr. old steers made £7 10s to £8 ss. There were no quotable line sof young cattle sold.

Fat sheep. There was a very large yarding and too many for butchers’ requirements. Freezing buyers were operating for the first time this season an dkept the market steady, but it was considerably easier than last week. Best wethers sold to 40s, a few extra good to 445; prime 33s 6d to 38s; medium and lighter 29s to 335; best ewes to 38s, prime 30s to 36s 6d; medium 26s 6d to 29s 6d; lighter and inferior 21s to 25s 6d. Lambs sold well making 9d per lb over all. Store sheep,—There was a very large yarding, including a large proportion of North Island and travelled sheep. The market was considerably lower all round, easily 5s to 6s on all travelled and inferior sorts. 2-tooth wethers brought 15s 6d to 18s 6d, better sorts to 21s. Very few forward wethers were offering. Best rape lambs 18s 6d to 21s- good sorts 14s 6d to 17s 9d; -- tooth ewes, best 22s 6d to 245; best Norht Islanders to 22s 6d; S.M. ewes 16s to 20s. The weather is still dry and the piospects are anything but good.
