BRUCE BAY NEWS

(By Nemo.) Not to be out done by other districts it was decided to hold a sports meeting here on New Ypar’s Day, and a • subscription list started for -this purpose, was liberally donated to. The sun on New Year’s morning, after a desperate struggle, decided to smile through his tears, and quite a calvacade wended their way to the beach, where the sports were to be held. About 50 people gathered from the surrounding districts, including eight gents and one lady from Okuru. All went well till dinner time, when it commenced to rain, but this did not at all subdue the holiday spirit, as the sports adjourned to the flitters, where some friendly spars with boxing gloves kept things moving till the clouds rolled by, and enabled the remaining events to be run off.

At the conclusion of the sports most of those present wended their way to Condon’s, where a sumptuous repast awaited them; after this all adjourned to the barn, where they tripped tlm light fantastic toe, past the wee sma’ hours of the morning.

Thanks are due to Mrs J. Condon for the way she attended to the inner wants of those present, and are also due to Messrs J. Cain and G. Harris, who supplied the music (piano and violin) for the dance, extras being played l>v Misses Condon and Scott and Mr A.. Sdott.
