STRATFORD ELECTION

OFFICIAL RECOUNT.

A Magisterial recount of the votes polled in the Stratford eletion has just been concluded, the Magistrate being Mr T. A. B. Bailey. The result of the recount, it is understood—for there is no official information available—is that Mr Hine has made a gain of six votes by the recount. This means that Mr Masters, the Liberal candidate has still a majority over Mr Hine of 61 votes.

It is common knowledge that the supporters of Mr Hine propose to take advice as to whether any further action by way of election petition is possible. Such a petition would he heard UqPoife an election Court, consisting of two Judges of the Supreme Court.
