Many men were, absent from thy Taupiri and Pukeniiro mines on Monday, apd as iheie still the absentees the daily output has been less than before the holidays. More men, however, have resumed, during the past day or two, and it is prpb- | able that the usual number will be at work noxt week.

The Northern Coal Company closed the Kiripaka mine shortly before ' risbmas, and will not be resumed until the minors have given an undertaking that they will abandon the “goslow” policy which was introduced for the second time about the middle of December.
