SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
at RAILWAY CROSSING. [per pnnss association. — corvniOMT.] DUNEDIN, January 12. A bad accident occurred to-day at ;t,he railway crossing near Mosgiel, where the engine of a train ran into a motor car driven by Mr Tilbury, of Dunedin. Mrs Tilbury, two children, and a male friend who were also in the ear, are also more or less seriously hurt but the extent of the injuries is at present unknown.
The panics.of the persons injured in the raihvnv crossing accident at Mosgiel are: -—Wilfred Horbeut Tilbury, Mrs Tilbury, and Archibald Tilbury, Thomas McCosker, Joyce Tilbury, (aged five yoars). Ml’ McCosker is i brotlier-in-law of Mr Tilbury, and was on a visit to Dune,din from ‘Wellington. He is an architect in tho employ of the Government and about 50 venrs of age. Tilbury .resides at B-52 Oxford Street soflth, Dunedin, and is a- taxidriver. He is known as a careful driver. An ambulance reached the scene of the accident shortly before 1 a.m. and left soon afterwards for Dunedin Hospital with Ah- Tilbury and his two children. Three doctors wore quickly in attendance. With the exception of the hoy Archibald,-all were unconscious when tho doctors and ambulance arrived. Mrs Tilbury who was too ill to be moved died at 3.15. p.m. at Mosgiel. Mr McCosker is orily slightly injured.
It is understood that Mr Tlbury is suffering from serious injuries to bis bead. . The condition ol Joyce Tilbury is stated to be serious. Archibald Tilbury is not badly injured, ANOTHER CRASH. PALMERSTON NORTH, Jan. 12.
The south hound Napier express crashed into a trap at a level crossing on the Foxtoii |jne this afternoon. The gig was M’reeked, the horse being killed. The occupants, an elderly couple, Air and Airs Sanford, were terribly injured. They were removed to the Hospital, where Afrs Sanford died at six thi s evening.
