CONFERENCE OF CENTRES. 01flRIST0HRC.fr, Jan- ~- ■A conference of centres of the St. John Ambulance Association, and St. Jobn Ambulance Brigade Districts in New Zealand was held to-day. The Governor-General, patron and head of the older ill the Dominion, presided.
The following delegates were present:—Dunedin 'Centre ,Colonel A. R. Falconer, Colonel G. Barclay, Major W Fleming, and Captain ,T. E. Rone; Cam terbuMy, Lieut. Colonel F. B. Cresswell, Captain W. McKinney, Mr C. J. Falconer, and Miss Munro; Wellington, Messrs W. H. Seed, J. D. Findlay,’ Mrs Waters, and Miss Rdbinson. There were also present, Sir Heaton Rhodes and Air W. B. Fisher. Tt was decided to form a Dominion executive, to be constituted as follows: —Chairman, director of the ambulance department; vice-chairman, officer in charge of the brigade in New Zealand; members, chairman of the centre in each sub-district, or his representative officer iq charge of the 'brigade in each district or his representative; one other delegate to represent Red Cross workers from each district. It was decided that all matters concerning the association and the brigade, except technical matters, should lie dealt with by the central executive in each district under the direction of the Dominion executive.
The following resolutions wore also carried: That the Governor-General of New Zealand for the time being Be patron and head of the order in the Dominion and ex officio a member of the Dominion executive. That His 'Excellency he asked to appoint Sir Heaton Rhodes a director of the ambulance department in New Zealand.
That when the time is opportune, the New Zealand executive meet the joint committee of the Red Gross Society and Order of St John, and endeavour to form a" basis for future work in New Zealand to prevent overlapping and regarding the provision of funds. That an organising committee, with headquarters in Wellington, he set up bv the Dominion executive to deal with the general work of the association, and to be responsible to the Dominion executive; and that the organising com- | in'!ttee be empowered to deal with the question of applying for a Govern,, I meat subsidy. A recommendation was carried that efforts be made to have a priory established in New Zealand. The Governor-General said he locked forward to seeing very good ami useful work accomplished under the new e-editions.
