INFLUENZA.

At a meeting of the local Hospital Board to-day, Dr Parr (temporary Resident Surgeon, reported that one typical case of pneumonic influenza was admitted to Hospital in a critical condition on December 26th, and the patient died fifteen hours after admission. The Doctor also reported that the Health Inspector ,in his report for the month stated, that five cases of pneumonic influenza. had| been notified in the city of Nelson. Three of them were mild and two were severe. There was also one case at Pangataoroa. WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. Three members of the crew of the Pateona developed influenza, on the way across from Nelson and Picton, and on arrival this morning they were removed to the Hospital. Their names are Russell, Hancock, and Carncross. . The hospital authorities state that their eondit ion is not Morions.
The Vateena is being thoroughly fnmigated and will not be able to leave Picton for Nelson to-day or Friday. The Moeraki is being sent to Picton only to-day and an endeavour will be made to send the Mapourika to Picton and Nelson on Friday. Th o watersiders have refused to work the Pateena.
