The Paeroa brought up a quantity of groper caught at Open Bay Island yesterday. The grand finale to the catch was the landing of a large shark over eight feet in length, and a very substantial monster it appears as it hangs from a boom aboard the steamer today. Sister Mary Stanislaus Corbett passed away at the Rcefton Convent last evening. Deceased had for the past two years, been in failing hpalth, so that her end was not unexpected. Sister Mary Stanislaus was the oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Corbett, of Westport (formerly of Reefton), and joined the Sisters of Mercy in Reefton 26 years ago, devoting her life to teaching and atending to the sick. Her noble character and gentle disposition towards the pupils and among the poor and sick will make her death a loss to the community. Besides her parents she leaves two brothers and a sister to mourn their loss.

The shaft distance sunk during the month is 25 feet, depth below No. 9 level, 104 feet.
