AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD 3 * PICTURES. To-night at tho Princess Theatre, Pollards present Beaumont Smith’s six reel gallop “Desert Gold,” a drama of love, intrigue and the turf. A galloping fight on horseback with revolvers is an exciting incident, but it is probably not as thrilling as a chase between a train and motor car with hair-breadth escapes from death every few feet. But neither of these compare with an exciting aeroplane flight from the mountains to Randwick racecourse in tlio hope of arriving in time to save Desert Gold from an awful fate.

lint then again, arc any of these incidents as hair-raising as a fight between two men on the edge of Katoomba Falls in the mountains, and the final fall of one over 2,000 feet into the valley below ? Or are horses falling over hurdles one after the another, and throwing their riders yards away, and neck to neck i finishes between Desert Gold and other champions, equal to these other incidents in excitement? But the touches of sentiment, which play softly on the heart strings are all there, and the gorgeous scenery of | southern lands, the arid desert country ; of Australia, the colour and bustle of the City courses on race days, the blood mares and tho tiny foals of the stud farms, the City Clubs, and training stables are all shown. i
