Ross (Dunedin) beat Horton (Dunedin), 4 up nntl 3 to P^ ay - The final between Ross and Rutherford was keenly contested. They were all square at the twelfth. Ross won the thirteenth (making 1 up). The fourteenth was halved in 4 and Ross won the fifteenth in 4 to Rutherford’s 5, making him 2 up. The sixteenth was won by Rufherfonj with a good 3. Ross 1 up. At the seventeenth. Rutherford hooked his drive, hut Ross drove level with the green. Rutherford topped his second shot, Ross was on the green In 2, Rutherford playing a running shot, land--,’d on the green in 3. Roas’s putt vain short, and Rutherford lost a good * .opportunity, missing with his putt. Ross holed out, and won the match, 2 up and 1 to play, thus retaining the championship
