Mr H. Whitney, the well-known Wellington horse owner, whose horse competed recently at the Hokitika meeting, has written to the President of the Westland Racing Club as follows in respect to the loss of his horse “Preface” which fell in the first hurdle race and had to be destroyed“ Many thanks for your kind letter and . the sporting way your Club has met me over the nominations and acceptances for the horse. Your Club’s action is quite in accord with the past when you presented me with a gold medal for Rose Pink’s record. Once again let me thank you and ask you to convey also mv appreciation to your officials for your Club’s action.”
