ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A FIRM MARKET. (By Telegraph. —Special to Guardian. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— Fat Sheep—The entry was large, as anticipated, although not nearly so large as the week before. The market opened firm but towards the end eased somewhat, and passings were numerous. No woolies were offering but a fair number of Chatham sheep were in. Best wethers sold to 44/-; prime 33/- to 38/-; medium, and lighter 28/6 to 32/6.

Store Sheep—There was a comparatively small yarding and the quality was decidedly bettor than of late. A fair number of 'forward Chatham Islqnd wethers were offered and sold well, making from 26/6 to 30/7. Forward local wethers brought 25/6 to 27/6. All fresh forward sheep or good young ewes were firmer but backward sorts and ewes and lambs showed no improvement, and a fair number were passed in. The weather conditions show no improvement and store sheep prospects are not encouraging. Beef—Only 130 were yarded mostly good quality. Owing to the short supply, the market advanced fully £3 per head for best quality steers, hut we do not anticipate this rise to hold. Extra prime steers sold to £33/5/-; good £24 to £2B; Cows and heifers £l2 to £l4, and up to £22 for extra. [ Store Cattle—Only about ton pens were yarded and no quotable lines were sold, except one line of 16, 2 year old and 18 months, steers, which sold at £6. The market at country sales is generally easier owing to tho scarcity of feed.
