AUCKLAND, Dec. 23., In the official count- of the 400 absentees, 343 have been counted, with the following result: — MacKenzie (R.) 100 Myers (L.) 133 Way (Lab.) 10 Mr Myers majority is now 92. RETURN OF WRITS. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Clerk of Writs ascertained yesterday from Returning Officers throughout the country, that the official counts were expected to be completed yesterday evening. If any were unable to finish by to-night, Mr Heslop says instructions will be issued to continue the work on Boxing Day, which is the day on which the Writ was. made returnable. If the count is still unfinished an Order-in-Couneil will bo necessary altering the! date, but he did not think this would he necessary.
