Mr Widdowson, S.M., (Chairman) giving his decision in the Magisterial enquiry regarding the mishap to the Karori, said the opinion of the Court was that the casualty was caused by the ship taking a sheer in strong flood-time, which threw her out of position, and through not answering the helm in suffinl time she was unable to clear the danger. In the circumstances the Court exonerated the master, officers and crew of the ship from all blame. The accident was in no way attributed to a defect of the ship's gear and the master and officers acted with all prudence after the accident. The certificates of the master and officers will be returned. Captain Hopkins was allowed costs.
