The final returns for the Southern Maori elections were:— Uru 376 Taiaroa 169 Erehana 97 Matu 46 When asked by a reporter how he would vote on a no-confidence motion, Mr Uru said, “I am selling my vote to the highest bidder, I am independent, and I believe this should be the attitude of every Maori member.” ‘‘ln tlfe past,” lie continued, “I-have supported Mr Massey and I will do so again if he will promiste to give the Maoris what they want. If Sir Joseph Ward will give us a promise that Mr Massey is not prepared to give then my vote will go to the former. That is my attitude.”
