CONCERT AND BALL.

The concert and ball held at Ivanieri on Wednesday evening in aid of the Kanieri School Prize Fund was a most successful turn out, a very large crowd being present to witness one of the most enjoyable entertainments held for some time, and which reflects great credit upon the teachers—Airs Manson and Miss E. Millner—who had the training of the scholars arid who organised the entertainment.

Mr Selby presided, and during the interval thanked all who had assisted in making the concert such 'a success, especially thanking those performers from Hokitika, who had come forward to assist, also Mrs Wells who had acted as accompanist to the children in their songs, and Miss Nancekivell who had supplied some items for the programme. The following is the programme:— Overture (piano) Misses C. and O. Morris; chorus, seniors, “Floating”; song Miss Forsyth; recitation, Sybil Newman; song and dance, “My Mountaineers,” by Alsatian maids; monologue, Air Berry; song, Aliss Bergman; song, Miss P. Lloyd; duet, Aliases L. and F. Parker, musical item, Alisses C. Manson and AT. AVells; chorus, junior scholars, “The Caterpillars”; Highland Fling, Una Groufsky; recitation, ATiss E. Millner; song, Air Shand; dance, “ The Gav Pierrotes ”; song and chorus scholars. Interval. Second part: Piano, Misses C. AVylie and Forsyth; song, Miss Reynolds; chorus, junior scholars ‘Santa Clan's ”; song, Miss J. Davidson; monologue, Air Berry; song, Aliss M. Jones; recitation, C. Alanson; song, Aliss Hatch ; dance, Miss Duncan; chorus, senior scholars. “ AToonlight Song of the Fairies ” ; duet, “ Alolly of Monan’s Isle,” Aliases C. Morris and A 1 Ayson; recitation, “ Aly Ship’ and I,” R. Gumming; “God Save the King.”

The accompanists for the evening were Mr Lawn, Airs Wells, Alisses Giese, Heenan, Lamacroft and Al. Knowles.

The ball ■which followed wa s largely attended, Air Lawn supplying the music, and Alessrs Nancekivell and Rooney acted as M.C., and the dancing wn-1 kept up to a late hour.
