I have' the honour to submit the following report on work done during the past month. The main Work carried out during the month has been the construction of the Hall St. drain. Although the weather conditions have not been of the best for this class of work very satisfactory progress has been made with the construction of the drain. For the month we completed a section of 5 chains, excepting a small portion to he still filled in. The cost of this section and allowing for the portion to be still filled in amounted to £l3O Os Od which works out at £26 8s Od per chain. We have now only 31 chains to 1 go to complete this drain to Hampden St. This section will not cost nearly so .much per chain as the depth of ground is considerably less than was the case in the last section just completed. About the middle of the month Mr Jas; Lynch kindly sent down his motor tractor and ploughed up the eastern portion of Cass Square. The ground still requires a good deal of work to be put in to make it suitable for sowing down in grass. The road way at the intersection of Sewell and Weld Streets has been metalled and sanded. The usual maintenance works .have also been attended to in the Borough during the month.— Received.
Mr Warren asked when the footpaths that had been cut up during the laying of the telephone cables were to be repaired. It Was stated that this would be done as soon as the staff bad time to :lo so. The Council rose at 8 p.m.
