LATE LOCALS.

At the practice of the Municipal Band held on Monday evening last, it was decided that in future members m<(et at the-Band Room at 7.15 on Friday evenings for the purpose of parading through Revell St. to McLean s Pictures at the Opera House, where the usual programme will he submitted. A letter was deceived from the Borough Council requesting the services of the Band on Tuesday next. On the motion of the conductor it was unanimously decided to accede to the request, members are to be notified of the hour of meeting later.

A keen Palmerston North gardener has had a peculiar and painful experience .(Bays the “Times”). He was sorting out his seeds and came upon an assortment of pumulas. These he rubbed thoroughly with his hands, and, becoming hot in the exertion, wiped his forehead with his palm. That evening his hands and head swelled to abnormal proportions, and he suffered violent pain. A doctor who was called in at once diagnosed pumulas as the cause and blood-poisoning as the trouble. The result was that the gardener spent several days in bed. The pumula is a dangerous form of horticulture.
