MANGITRATE COURT HOKITIKA
THURSDAY, NOV. 27th. (Before E. C.-Levvey. Esq., S.M.) LICENSING ACT. The police charged a number ,of person with being on licensed premises after hours. Two offenders charged with being at Red Lion Hotel on the lltli inst., did not appear and weije convicted and fined 40s and costs 7s. Another young man similarly charged claimed that he had gone to arrange for hoard, and was now staying there. Excuse accepted and charge dismissed. A young man (Mr Sellers) charged with being on. licensed premises (Post Office Hotel), after hours and .further with giving a false address plpadcd guilty to both charges. In view of his soldier record, and on his giving a .definite promise not to enter .hotels in future, the Magistrate entered a conviction in each case, without penalty, but subject to payment of costs 7s, in each case. WANDERING CATTLE. Borough Inspector ,(Mr. .Murdoch), v. Laughton Bros., a charge .of. allowing a horse to wander. Convicted and fined 20s and costs 7s, also counsel’s fee 10s' 6d. Same v,-Wj. Pascoe, a charge of allowing 1 horse to wander. Defendant pleaded not guilty. After evidence was given by Inspector Gibbons and defendant, and J. Cameron, in which it was elicited the horse was in the latter’s charge and had got out of the stable somehow, a conviction was recorded, and defendant ordered to pay costs 7s and counsel’s fee 10s 6d WITHOUT A LIGHT. S. Wolverham, charged .with riding a. bicycle after sunset without a light, was convicted and discharged w.th a caution. { DEBT CASE. iM. Gooch, -(Mr;Murdoch)} v. A. Edin- j borough, claim £4 14s 5d.--Judgment by default for plaintiff with costs 5s i and counsel’s fee ss.
