The Winton annual race meeting was opened to-da y in threatening weather, and a slight shower fell during the afternoon. The attendance was a record for an off day. The tote took £13,339 10s., compared with £10,963 on a holiday 'last year. Results are: TRIAL STAKES—AII British 1, I Bright Spot 2, Red Pal 3. Won by a head. Time 1.17 1-5. HOKONUI TROT—Lenamlior 1, Marvelle 2, Jolly Major 3. Won by a half length. Time 4.58 2-5. WINTON OUP—Claverhouse 1, Tin Soldier 2, Kilkee 3. In a fine finish, Tin Soldier failed to reach Claverhouse, who won by a neck, Kilkee half a length away. Time 2.8. WINTON STAKES—Vice Grand 1, Wild Shot 2, Buff Rose 3. Won by three lengths. Time 1.23. 1.5. FLYING HANDlCAP—Redshire I, j Rokelaine 2, Margery 3. Won by a short length. Time 1.16. STEEPLES —Handsome Boy 1, Lifebuoy 2, Black Sea 3. Won by fifteen lengths. Time 7.15. OTAPIRT TROT—Bellfasliion 1, Then 2, The Gunner 3. Won by four lengths. Time 3.40. TRADESMEN’S HANDICAP—Cain uria 1, Orderdown 2, Fitzosborne 3 Won by* a short neck. Time 1.29.
