A FIRE. DUNEDIN, Nov.. 25

A fire broke out at 8.30 to-night in a stable belonging to Malcolm Stevenson, contractor, situated at Anderson’s Bay Hoad resulting in tlie destruction of nin,a horses also'loss of harness and considerable damage to plant. The origin of the fire is a-mystery. The horses, plant, and harness were insured in the Atlas Office, hut tlie amount is, not ascertainable.

Th,e Secretary-General of the Post Office has received the following wireless from the Chatliams: “Carrier pigeon in an exhausted condition readied the islands three days ago and was captured to-day. In the Supreme Coiirfi in banco, today the Chief Justice heard a case which the United Farmers Co-Opera-tive Association, Ltd., (in liquidation) has brought against David Joseph Nathan, merchant, of Wellington. The defendant was called upon to answer why an order should not he made, in terms of summons issued on November Ist. 1917, or, in the alternative why be should not be ordered to account to the liquidator of the United Farmers’ Co-Operative Association for the sum of £BSO being the balance of the sum of £2009, agreed to he paid by him to the said liquidator, by agreement dated Decmeber sth, 1917;

Tt was alleged that whilst Director and Agent of the United Farmers’. Association, D. J. Nathan made a provisional sale of the assets of the Association to accept them without disclosing to them that he had secured for himself certain benefits.

After hearing argument, His Honour reserved liis decision.

BAKERY TRADE DISPUTE. WELL IN GTON, Nov. 25. The Arbitration Court considered the dispute in the bakery trade here today, reserving its decision.
