Mr J, A- Rowell had the misfortune to lose his “Wolseley” motor car last night by fire. While driving out to Stafford, the engine back fired, and the car burst into flames and soon was quickly destroyed, only the two front tyres being saved. The mishap occurred at Flowery Creek. The loss is a substantial one, as the insurance on the car w.as allowed to run out in July last. Mr Seddon moves south to-morrow ip order to meet the electors in that quarter. He is to speak at Ross to-morrow night, and Wataroa on Thursday night. On Friday he will visit Okarito at midday, and speak at Waibo Gorge at night.. On Saturday, night Mr Seddon will address the electors at Hari Hari. jfjis further movements will he announced later, including his itineiary for the surrounding districts of Hokitika.
At the close of Mr Seddon’s political meeting at the Princess Theatre to-night a public social will be held at the Supreme Ball. Mesrs Lawn and Gibbons will supply the music and a ladies committee will be in charge of the creneral arrangements. The function is specially organised to afford Mr Seddon a greater opportunity of meeting the people, as owing to the size of the electorate and the ground still to he covered, Mr Seddon will be able to pay only flying visits to th© town ag&in prior to polling day.
