cupation' of Zara by Gabrielle d Annun- • bio is interesting. It shows that he took from Fiume with him, a thousand soldiers and went to Zara in four destroyers. When he got outside Fiume, a blockading Italian destroyer challenged him but when Signor d’ Annunzio announced himself by megaphone, the blockader allowed the four vessels to pass • and cheered them. The city of Kara fed the expedition. The local commander vice-Admi-ral Nillo, at first asked d’Annunzio. .. to re-embark. Then he joined the rebels and embraced d’Annunzio. The Admiral presented him to the crowd, as ‘‘the first Italian governor of Dalmatia.”
ROME, November 18.
Signor D’Annunzio found the naval blockade of Zara relaxed.. The garrison obeyed o’Annunzio’s order to retire. D’Annunzio in a proclamation to all
the Italian towns of the Adriatic promises them deliverance as at Fiume.
BULGARIA’S TIME LIMIT. PARIS, Nov. 19. The Supreme Council have fixed the 27th inst for Bulgaria’s signing of the Treaty.
