ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET,

DROP IN PRICES

(By Telegraph—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday :

Fat cattle.—There was an extra large yarding, over 500 being entered. Prices showed a drop of from £3 to £5 per head, and the demand was dull especial ly for cattle not well finished. Extra steers sold to £39; prime £23 to £29; unfinished £ls 10s to £l9 for extra good. Store cattle.—There was an enormous yarding of all classes, including a large proportion of bad stocks of 2-year old cattle which were all passed. One line of 3-year old steers sold at £lO 15s. A line of yearlings from the Coast, all steers in backward condition made £4 12s; dry cows £5 to £7. The demand ail through was easier, owing to the dry weather. Fat sheep.—There was a large entry [ and too many for butchers requirements. The market dropped considerably, anything from 2s to 5s on last sale. A. large proportion of Southland wethers were in wool. The offering was mostly on account of dealers, but met with a poor sale and was mostly passed. The bigger proportion of the shorn sheep offering were selling better than the woollies. Store sheep.—The entry of all classes i was a shade easier. Best woolly hoggets mixed sexes 355; best shorn wethers 31s; ewos and lambs from 13s to 18s best woolly wethers up to 435. The weather is dry and feed backward.
