The Committee 1 met at 7.30 p.m. Present—Messrs j. King, (chair), Stevenson, Richards,*' jPreston, Shannon and' Aitken,' (chairman). ' ' The minutes of the previous meeting were read and continued and outward correspondence approved. ' INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From' Miss Dixon, teacher, South Spit reporting avierage attendance for month as 17*.7 out of a roll number of . J ,tU it ,1 11! 20. Received. ‘

From Miss E. Heenan, hon secretary St. John’s'Ambulance,'offering to teach school children after hours the course of ambulance work for a fee of £3 3s eaeji this to include Doctor’s examination.— Received. Mr Preston moved* that the Brigade be thanked for the offer, but the Committee regretted that they had no funds available. Seconded by Mr Shannon. Mr Stevenson urged that the Doctor be asked to give'his services gratis. The motion was agreed to. From T. West’ travelling instructor St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, offering to arrange for winter classes in teaching first aid assistance.—Received; referred to Chairman and Secretary to interview Mr West. From Canterbury Education Board notifying date of examination of secondary school.—Received. From Rector, (Mr J. Brunton), reporting the average attendance was 344 out of a roll number of 370.7; stating the High School was being examined ; asking for date and extent of Christmas holidays to be fixed—Received It was "resolved that six weeks holiday be allowed, closing on Friday Dec 19tli. In connection with the charge for supply of water at the school, on the motion of Messrs Shannon and Stevenson, it was resolved to apply to the Borough Council for a reduction of the charge made (£8 10s). The caretaker’s salary was passed for payment. - The visiting committee, (Messrs Shan non and King), stated it was necessary to have the agricultural plot fenced in and referring to some small matters requiring attention, including the cleaning out of the drains alongside the school reserve.

It was resolved to apply to the Technical Department to have the area fenced in; also to ask for the outhouses to be whitewashed and the fences repaired.

Messrs Hickson and Stevenson were appointed visitors for the month. Mr T. W. Bruce was elected on the Committee, vice Mr R. Parkinson, resigned. The Committee rose at 8.20 p.m.
