, MILITARY DIVORCE CASE, i LONDON, Nov. 13. , Mrs Sherwood Kelly is applying for a divorce from Colonel Sherwood Kelly, V.C.
In evidence, she stated that she married Colonel Sherwood Kelly in 1916, and after a four days honeymoon her husband returned to France. Later on they went to South Africa on- a visit. There several women fascinated her husband. He began to complain that he had given up, his liberty. They returned to, England, but they then lived apart. Petitioner said she wrote to him thus : “I am a proud woman, and' I’ would not beg favours. If you do not want me, tell me. I think that* the men and women who madei you out to be such a hero must have have turned your head. You will soon be an ordinary citizen. Perhaps you will sigh then for the effection you despise to--4ay-” . ■ At a meeting of returned soldiers here, it was announced that a Bechuanaland chief had offered to throw open six thousand acres of a diamond field, solely for the use of returned soldiers.
BULGARIAN ARRESTS OVER, WAR LONDON, November 15.
The Bulgarians have arrested a large numbers of supporters of the late Government for the purpose of trying those responsible for he war. Two hundred were arrested in Sofia alone. . A demand has been made for the extradition of ex-King Ferdinand and exPremier Radoslavoff. It is understood that, after her request for modification had been refused Bulgaria accepted the Peace Treaty. A FLAG INCIDENT. ! Probably Mr Asquith will be the Liberal candidate for Spen Valley in place of Sir T. Whittaker, deceased. The House of Lords has rejected: the Clause which the House of Commons inserted in the Removal of Sex Disqualifications Bill' for enabling Peeresses in their own right, to sit and vote in the House of Lords.
In the House of Commons' an amendment was moved to the Aliens Bill to exclude former enemy aliens from the United Kingdom for seven years, instead of the Government’s proposed 2 years,. The Hon; Mr Shortt offered three years as a compromise and this was- carried:
A > new clause was also carried prohibiting former enemy people from having: any interest in British land, in key industries or in shipping during the same period. The Bill has been passed.
